The Best Way To Brew Coffee Saturday, Apr 28 2007

Customers ask me all the time what my favorite way of brewing coffee is. I absolutely love the Vacuum Coffee Maker. I actually own more than one. There are electric (automatic) and a stove top (manual) models.
The “vacpot”, as it is nicknamed, enables the coffee grinds to merge with the hot water for an extended length of time. This extracts the most flavor from the coffee as possible. With a drip coffee maker, the hot water simply passes through. The taste difference is phenomenal. Unfortunately, it is likely that you have never seen a vacpot in a store. You will also have to grind your coffee differently for the vacpot and the French press that I mention.
The electric model does all the work for you which is great when you are multitasking. You simply add fresh filtered water and fresh ground coffee beans. Plug in the coffee maker and press the “on” button. The unit does the rest within one minute. With the stove top model, you control how long the water and coffee boil . For optimal flavor, boiling the grounds with the water for a longer period of time than the electric does gives you a better cup of coffee. It does take some getting used to and requires your attention. That is why I own both models.
If you don’t want to invest in another coffee maker, the French press is excellent and costs under $20 for most models. The press is also easier to find retail. With a French press you measure out your freshly ground coffee and add “almost” boiling water. After 5 minutes you “press” the handle down to contain the coffee grinds and pour yourself a delicious cup of coffee.
