I have yet another little bit of information to increase your coffee knowledge base. You can thank me later.

Many people grab a cup of espresso to get an instant caffeine rush. While I have to agree that espresso beans pack an extra “punch” of flavor, the caffeine content is actually less than a regular cup of java.

First of all, the longer coffee beans are roasted, the less caffeine is left in the bean. There is still caffeine but it is reduced. Lighter roasts have more caffeine. It is a bit of a contradiction to the brain, as your taste buds are registering a heightened, more distinct flavor. I think of the most satisfying foods, spicy with less fat and calories

Second, take a look at the average cup (mug) of coffee and then look at an espresso serving. Need I say more?
